Hi, and welcome to first ever post by the Undercover Recruiter here at Learnlance. This blog is going to be all about online freelancing and specifically about the life of a online recruiter in the world wide web.
Job that may not sound so exciting at first glance, but oh boy it sure is! The things I have seen, heard and witnessed over the years could quite easily be part of a plot of number one bestseller! I have had the best, funniest, interesting as well as saddest moments while searching and interviewing contractors for various roles around the world.
The joys of hiring a contractor who has been looking for work for long time or contractor who is now able to quit corporate world and work from home… to sometimes not so happy times of letting all the others know that they were not selected. Or interview contractors who are actually lip syncing and faking their interviews to contractors obviously cheating during testing and so many more good times. Those stories and more will be here later, and of course plenty of tips along the road.
Couple of not so detailed facts about online freelancing recruiting career:
People headhunted: thousands of online freelancing websites profiles, CV’s and applications reviewed
People interviewed: hundreds (or thousands?)
People hired: hundreds of very happy online freelancers!
Interviewee locations: India, Philippines, Brazil, US, Belgium, Italy, Egypt, Thailand, New Zealand….
Not that big secrets would be revealed, or who knows maybe it will, in these posts but to give little bit more openness, a decision made to keep this an anonymous blog. Plus this also enables more stories from other online freelancer recruiters out there to share their stories. More the merrier, right?
This is not just going to be about stories from a recruiter but also am happy to answer any questions that you may have about online freelancing and the other side of the table in the interview process. So please do leave a comment and let me know if you have a certain topic that you want Undercover Recruiter to cover.
